Welcome to Salus Care

About Us

Salus Care has two homes: Oak View in Pontlottyn and Moorland in Swansea. Both homes are registered to provide nursing care to individuals over the age of 18 years who may have a mental health or learning disability diagnosis, and those who may exhibit behaviours which challenge.  In addition, individuals may have coexisting complex physical health needs.

The teams at both homes have a wide range of experience and have the relevant additional training to support those in our care. We employ Mental Health Nurses, Learning Disability Nurses and General Nurses in order to meet the individual needs of our service users. Our Health and Wellbeing Support Workers are trained and equipped to support our qualified nurses to provide the best possible care. We believe in investing in the development of our staff in order to achieve better outcomes for our service users. We provide additional training opportunities and career progression opportunities in order to support this.

At Salus Care we use a biopsychosocial model in order to deliver holistic, person-centred care. Using this model enables us to recognise and respond to the impact both physical and psychological wellbeing has on individuals, along with the need to feel part of the community in which they live and engage in meaningful activity.

Our homes are decorated and equipped to help those we care for feel at home. All service users have access to their own ensuite room, which they are able to personalise. In addition to this, the homes have additional bathrooms which are equipped with specialist baths.

We employ a team of experienced Chefs, Cooks and Kitchen Assistants, who strive to provide those we care for with a varied and healthy diet. All of our meals are made by the team using fresh ingredients, and we involve service users in planning seasonal menus. Our teams work hard to adapt to individual needs, e.g. those needing modified or culturally appropriate diets. Both services hold themed events and dinners, which contributes to the wellbeing and feeling of inclusion for our service users.

We believe that service users play a vital role in the planning of their care, and the day-to-day operation of the services we provide. Service users are invited to contribute to staff recruitment by being involved in the interview process where possible. Service users also attend weekly meetings to discuss any ideas or concerns, and work with our activities coordinators to develop personalised activity plans and timetables.
